Call to Prayer for April 9, 2018

‘Alive in Christ – Be Strong in the Lord ‘–  This is the week we have been waiting for – preparations have been made – this weekend we will experience the fruit of the labor of so many who have prayed, planned and prayed some more.  Just as we pack and get ready for what God has for us at our Georgia Baptist Women Spring Event at Stone Mountain on April 13-14, we also know that the Enemy will be just as busy this week to bring challenges and obstacles along our way to discourage and defeat us.  Peter reminds us to ‘always be sober and vigilant because our adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour’ (1 Peter 5:8).

God has promised to give us the spiritual weapons we need to stand against all the battles and challenges that the Enemy will throw at us this week – he knows as we gather together this weekend that Jesus will be praised, that God’s Word will be taught, that lives will be changed, that commitments will be made, that believers will encourage each other as we fellowship together.

Let’s join together each day in prayer this week:

  • Praying that we will stand strong against the Enemy as we call on the name of our God and trust in His power to keep us strong and faithful.
  • Praising God as we pray these words of scripture that Paul shared in Ephesians 6:10 – ‘Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power’ and in Galatians 2:20 – ‘I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me; and the life that I now live in the flesh I live by faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me’
  • Preparing ourselves spiritually as we ‘lay aside every weight, and the sin that so easily ensnares us, and run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith’ (Hebrews 12:1-2a)

‘Be strong in the Lord, and be of good courage;

Your mighty Defender is always the same.

Mount up with wings, as the eagle ascending;

Victory is sure when you call on His name.

Be strong, be strong, be strong in the Lord;

And be of good courage, for He is your guide.

Be strong, be strong, be strong in the Lord;

And rejoice, for the victory is yours.’ (Linda Lee Johnson)
