Spring Event 2022
Be part of a movement of women who want to grow and encourage others to be radically involved in the mission of God
Georgia Baptist Women provides an opportunity for women of all ages to experience spiritual inspiration, missions challenge, and personal growth. We desire to keep the passion and priority of missions alive, and as we do, expand to involve all women in Georgia who desire a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. Through conferences and worship sessions, Spring Event allows you to experience in-depth Bible study, develop your prayer life, and embrace authentic relationships and strong community. Leave refreshed and renewed in your walk with Christ.
Lisa Harper
A master storyteller and sought-after Bible teacher and author known for her authenticity, Lisa Harper’s writing and speaking overflows with colorful pop culture references that connect the dots between the Bible and modern life. She combines sound scriptural exposition with relatable anecdotes and comedic wit. Lisa is a mother to Missy, who she adopted from Haiti.
Rhon Carter
Rhon Carter, Worship and Music Catalyst for the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, has been serving the local church in music ministry since he was a young boy. The Lord called him into full time music ministry while pursuing a degree in hospital administration. Rhon followed that call and acquired a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance with a minor in piano from Brewton-Parker College. It was there that he met his wife, Vickki. They are blessed with a son, Barhon. God has allowed Rhon to serve several great Baptist churches with tremendous pastors. He desires to help all Georgia Baptist churches take next steps to fulfill the Great Commission no matter size, style or structure.

Carol Kirby
In 2014 God called Carol and her husband, Ronald, to leave their suburban home of 34 years and the only church family she had known to be on mission in Atlanta. The call was simple, scary but sure: live out The Great Commission by moving into a high-rise community and help with a new church plant.
Carol grew up in a home where Christ was talked about daily and the family prayed together every evening. Her father was her pastor for 49 years. Carol’s grandmother and mother were active leaders in women’s ministry and imparted that same love to her at an early age. While maintaining a full-time career as a professional portrait artist, Carol actively seeks to be on mission for Christ.
Dr. Valerie Carter Smith
Dr. Valerie Carter Smith began her ministry journey as a home missionary, serving as the Director of Hill Baptist Center in Richmond, VA, where she served for 10 years. From there she joined the staff of WMU of Virginia as the associate of Christian Social Ministries where she equipped and mobilized women to find their place in ministry. In 2002, Bon Air Baptist Church in Richmond, VA, called Valerie to serve on staff connecting the congregation to domestic and international missions as well as church-growth ministries. In 2014, Valerie became the Executive Director-Treasurer of the WMU of Virginia where she currently serves and works to honor traditional missions paradigms, while equipping and connecting women to address relevant issues for today’s world. She is a wife and mother to two young adult sons. You can find Valerie on Friday nights with volunteers sharing Christ in the areas of her city known for prostitution.

Tera has been married to her husband, David for 30 years and together they are the proud parents of six children, three of whom joined their family through intercountry adoption.
